Trips listed on this page fall into two categories: Airline Ambassador Missions, and AAI Member-led trips.
AAI Sponsored Trips are highlighted in yellow, and have been reviewed to meet our high standards of voluntourism. AAI Sponsored Trips have an established land price, which includes most costs during the mission. Please click the "» See Details ..." link to find out more about each trip.
AAI Member-led trips are coordinated by select AAI members who have expertise in leading trips and want to give others the opportunitiy to share the fun and rewards of traveling to make a difference. An active membership in AAI is required to register for an AAI member-led trip.
AAI's Peru team headed by Pepe Roca and Maria Elena Gareaud invites you to join them on a visit to aid the projects they support. You will visit Caritas Felices, a girls’ orphanage, and share a celebration lunch to mark the completion of their electric system (a project supported by AAI members who responded to our May campaign on Karma 411) . You will also spend a day in the area affected by the earthquake where you will visit construction projects sponsored by AAI and help serve lunch at one of the free kitchens feeding hundreds of children each day.
AAI continues to
visit Peru as volunteers hand-deliver food, aid, and promises kept following the
earthquake. Our Adopted Project commitment continues and grows. This trip includes painting a completed Bath House, a festival and party to celebrate the dedication and opening of a new Water Project, meeting, inspiring, and enjoying the company of children to sponsor in a new Youth-to-Youth Sponsorship Program, and scouting a partner project with the Fuller Center for Housing. Together, AAI and the Fuller Center will build 300-350 homes for the most needy! This trip includes the fulfillment of completed goals and the celebration of future dreams. After your humanitarian work, perhaps you would like to add a few days and visit Machu Pichu, Cuzco, or hike the Inca Trail! Peru and her people await!

Mapou Chevalier as he delivers the necessities of life -- providing food, drinking water and educational opportunities to the flood devastated region. Immediate relief is mandatory. Future goals include opening a school for children who lost their parents due to the flood. An in-country team awaits your arrival and will work to assist in the efforts. Join AAI and CAN-DO in Iowa! CAN-DO was on the ground days after the devastating floods in the 3rd week of June this year. They
provided critical relief supplies to many of the residents along the river in Louisa County that was
receiving little to no aid. AAI and CAN-DO will provide aid and relief for the small town of Oakville, Iowa, on this trip. This town of 439 people needs help now. There are 118 children in this community under the age of 18. The residents were set up in a school field, living in tents and RV's
and sharing a communal hose as a "shower". While residents sort through the politics of whether or not to rebuild the town, our teams will supply the aid and hands that are needed immediately. Out of the 181 homes and 22 businesses located in Oakville, 101 are considered destroyed and 92 sustained major damage.
CAN-DO is broadcasting live, from Iowa, through August 10th as we deliver aid directly to the people devastated by the floods.
The opportunity of a lifetime! Join Tsidii as she returns to her birthplace and shares the incomparable beauty of her homeland with you. She will reveal her grand dreams and visions for the Kingdom of Lesotho as she investigates her projects further. The Tsidii Foundation will establish a Community Health and Cultural Center. This trip is a first step, a fact-finding mission, to develop the model to empower and inspire Lesotho and, in turn, educate the rest of the world! Lesotho is reputed to be affected by the AIDS crisis more than any other country in the world. The community health service that Tsidii invisions will address this tragic issue; however, Tsidii explains the clinic will do even more....it will be of service to all....and have a very special focus on women. Enjoy the beauty of Antigua and Lake Atitlan while visiting our projects in action. AAI partners with Mayan Families Foundation in Panajachel to empower women through the Sewing Machine Project and to offer support in areas that include water purifiers, efficient wood burning stoves, and School Tuitions. You will spend an afternoon at the Open Windows Learning Center, in Duenas, interacting with children of all ages and distributing aid to families of migrant workers toiling in the surrounding coffee plantations. The beauty of the Mayan people and the stunning, breath-taking scenery will make this trip a most-memorable life experience.

Travel by quad, horseback or Land Rover on a cultural tour of AAI’s “adopted” village of Nkundusi. You will visit the local school, meet with families in their homes, talk to a “sangoma” (healer) and learn firsthand about life and challenges of HIV, unemployment and access to water and food in Zulu culture. Community leaders have asked for our help and you will deliver supplies and help refurbish the “creche” or day care center where we are providing food water, a playground, and supplies. Join AAI and the St. Bernard Project in New Orleans!
The St. Bernard Project is a non-profit organization assisting families who wish to move back into their homes in the St. Bernard Parish. They are mainly a rebuilding organization that uses volunteer labor and donations to purchase building materials to rebuild homes.
As an AAI volunteer and team member, you will be building someone’s house so be prepared to work hard and to the best of your ability. Some activities you can expect to be doing include installing insulation and drywall, mudding, texturing, painting, installing floors, yard work and much more. No experience is necessary as they will train us to do the work. We will work hard but there will also be opportunities to meet families in the area and to enjoy the wonderful food and culture of New Orleans.

South Kids International leads this mission to improve the lives of abandonned, abused, and physically and/or mentally-challenged children and youth in Brazil. If you are ready to roll up your sleeves, visit five different facilities, meet the youth, and help these youngsters cope with their fears and frustrations in life, this trip is for you! Volunteers are encouraged to provide fresh ideas to inspire and motivate these children. Make a difference in the lives of these young people, give of yourself, and help these children prosper.

Travel to Guatemala for a weekend of humanitarian work combined with loads of shopping for original Mayan jewelry, clothing, antiques, art, and pottery at the lowest prices to be found anywhere in Central America. This trip will be a cultural adventure that you will not want to miss. Interact directly with the Mayan people by visiting a variety of Mayan poor communities and at least one Mayan orphanage. An optional two days extra will be provided to those members who want to do more shopping and/or take an all day cruise on Lake Atitlan in a cruiser that has an on board restaurant. AAI members only please. This is a weekend mission that includes a $25.00 fee to AAI and a transportation fee of $75.00 payable in cash to the mission director after your arrival in Guatemala . The hotel cost is $15.00 - $20.00 per person per night with a free breakfast.
